ISTANBUL – A Slovak business delegation led by the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK) has returned from a mission to Istanbul that confirmed the enormous potential of economic relations between Slovakia and Türkiye. We were proud to be part of it.
The mission ran from 15 to 18 September 2026, with the main working programme on Wednesday, 16 September. The B2B meetings took place in the 5th floor foyer of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s main building in Eminönü.
Who was in the room
The programme opened with a welcome from Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca, member of İTO’s executive board, together with the heads of İTO’s international relations department. Also present were Alexander Sako of the Slovak generale consulate in Istanbul, Miloslav Skovajsa representing the Turkish-Slovak Business Community, Dušan Drozda from the Export-Import Bank of the Slovak Republic, and Peter Kovář from SOPK.
15 Slovak companies, many sectors
The event matched 15 Slovak companies with Turkish partners. The mission was general in scope, with engineering, chemicals, logistics, medical devices, transport, telecommunications, consumer goods, printing, HR services, certification and ISO standards, electrical engineering, agricultural machinery, and export and foreign trade support all represented.
TSBC at the table: 20 meetings now, 70 to follow
During the session, TSBC held one-on-one meetings with 20 Turkish companies. We talked about their plans for Slovakia and the wider European market, and how our services can help them find the right counterparts.
Demand, however, outran the clock. Around 70 more Turkish companies wanted to meet us but could not be seen within the projected window. We will not let those conversations go to waste. Over the coming weeks, TSBC will contact these companies directly to continue the discussion online or in person.
